manly finger-less gloves and an orchestra concert

Drew wears his homemade finger-less gloves everyday.

Yesterday I made Drew a quesadilla for lunch. I decided to put a tortilla on the top to make it more like a sandwich that he could pick up. I had never done this before. Usually our quesadillas are just tortillas with cheese melted on top like a pizza. When I did this he became a little upset. He then asked me if that is the way 'men' eat their quesadillas. He only wanted it that way if that's the way a man does it.

Drew is currently completely obsessed with doing all things manly. Would a man wear this? Would a man eat this? Would a man say this? Would a man do this? My answer is usually that a man can pretty much do whatever he wants as long as he's not hurting anyone.

Lily held her hand up to share something aloud at an all-school orchestra concert. It was brought to the conductor's attention and he ignored her (rightly so!) for at least one or two whole songs. She persisted. She waited with her hand up for another whole song after she'd been noticed. When the conductor finally called on her, she announced to the whole school, "When my mom was little, she played the violin." The conductor acknowledged her with a "Sweet!" and went back to the concert. I find this equal parts embarrassing and hilarious.
