words with friends, fun with turtles and wangy tangs

Lily learned the real b-word today. The boys in her class were writing it all over the playground, apparently. Isn't that fun.

My children actually know very few 'bad' words. This does not mean that they don't spend a lot of time working with the words that they know. There is a lot of talk about poop and Lily just introduced the word 'fart' into the mix. They love to test me and send Julianna into to whisper "fart" into my ear to see what I will do. I'm not sure what I should do, but I give no reaction at all. Anyway, today Julianna took her potty, name-calling, up a notch. Drew did something to make her mad and she called him an "old dirty penis."

No, I am not kidding.

Julianna recently attended the birthday party of a friend. During the party there was a health scare with the birthday girl. She is totally okay, but the ambulance did make an appearance. Yesterday Julianna was telling the story and told us that the "aliens" came to help Aubrey. I assume you know that she actually meant that the ambulance came to help, not the aliens.

Last week I went to the zoo with Lily's first grade class. At lunch the other moms that we were walking with decided to avoid the goose attacks in the shaded grassy area and sit on the large flat rocks next to the turtle cage. It was a lovely shady spot and the turtles appeared, upon first glance, to be eating their lunch as well. As we sat down and began to unpack our sack lunches we got a better look at the turtles. I will say, the girl turtle was eating her lunch. However, the boy turtle definitely wasn't. The turtles, in fact, were actually engaged in sexual relations.....loudly, I might add. Lily saw them and explained to the other children that the boy turtle was trying to climb over the girl turtle because he wanted some of her lunch; but, she wasn't letting him because she didn't want to share. We did not correct her.

Later on, still at the zoo, we were on our way to see the gorillas and orangutans. Lily looked up at me and asked, "Are we on our way to see the wangy tangs?" Ummmm......the what? "Wangy tangs!" The other mother standing next to me said, "Don't you ever correct her! That is the best mispronunciation ever."
