Cookie Flop and Other Important Lessons

In the last few days I've learned a few things and I thought I would share.
1. Never substitute olive oil for vegetable oil when baking cookies. The picture above shows Lily cracking the eggs for a batch of cookies that turned out terrible because we were out of vegetable oil.
2. There have been important people in my life, that without knowing it, made it okay to be me.
3. I learned that even though I've left the supposed rat race of a professional job, I have not left the competitive nature of life. Stay-at-home parents are a competitive group of people! But, mostly I learned that I've got to do what's right for my family and not worry about what works for other people.
4. Sometimes there is nothing better than a long lunch with good friends over a cheeseburger and fries.
